Devlog #3 — Equipment, Stats, and Making Combat Feel Right
Swords, shields, floating damage numbers, and a stat system that actually matters. This devlog covers everything we built to make combat in Midnight Outpost feel meaningful.
Midnight Outpost is a 2D co-op survival game. Explore a procedurally generated world, gather resources, build your Outpost, and defend it against zombie waves when darkness falls.

What awaits you
Equip weapons, tools and armor that multiply your damage, gathering speed and defense.
Combine materials at the Workshop to craft weapons, tools and building components.
Chop trees, mine rocks and collect raw materials to fuel your crafting and construction.
Every seed generates a unique map with forests, rivers and abandoned villages. Venture out to loot rare materials and equipment you can't craft.
Construct and expand your Outpost with multiple building types: FirePit, Workshop, Hall, Warehouse, Watch Tower and defensive walls.
When darkness falls, zombie waves descend on your Outpost. Reinforce your walls, craft your weapons and hold the line through the night.
Explore
Every seed creates a unique map — forests, rocks, rivers, and abandoned villages to discover.
Daylight is for gathering and building. Once night falls, the zombies come for your Outpost.
Chop trees, mine stone, and scavenge the world to fuel your construction and crafting.
Build
Place walls, gates, a Workshop, Warehouse, Watch Tower, FirePit and more to shape your base.
Craft tools, weapons, and building materials directly at the Workshop using resources you gather.
Your Outpost is saved between sessions — pick up where you left off with 3 save slots.
Survive
Enemy hordes spawn at night and target your Outpost. Reinforce your walls before darkness falls.
From wooden swords to stone axes — craft and upgrade your weapons to hold the line.
The world doesn't stop. The day/night cycle runs in real time, keeping the pressure on.
Together
Team up with friends to split roles — one gathers, one builds, one defends.
Pool your wood and stone in the shared Warehouse to build faster and smarter.
Play with keyboard & mouse or a gamepad — couch co-op ready.
